Robert WALTHER, born in 1955 in Kassel, studied mechanical engineering at the Universities of Clausthal-Zellerfeld and Dortmund. Between 1982 and 1984, he was employed as a graduate engineer at Deutsche Babcock Werke AG in Oberhausen. He has been working in the field of intellectual property since 1984.

He trained as a patent attorney at his father’s patent law firm, at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, at the Federal Patent Court in Munich, and at the Patent Litigation Division of the Regional Court of Düsseldorf.

He was admitted to the patent bar in 1987. In 1988, Robert WALTHER joined his father’s firm as a partner and has since advised his clients in all areas of intellectual property law (patents, trade marks, designs) in German or English.

Since 1996, Robert WALTHER has been a lecturer at the University of Kassel, teaching the course ‘Fundamentals of Intellectual Property Law (Patents, Trade Marks, Designs)’.

Robert WALTHER retired at the end of 2021.
