Dr FABER advises national and international clients on all aspects of the application, defence and enforcement of patents, utility models, trade marks and design rights. His technical expertise lies in the fields of mechanical engineering and process engineering. He also supports and advises clients on matters relating to employee inventions and on the development of effective filing strategies.

Following his degree in general mechanical engineering with a specialisation in process engineering at the Technical University of Munich, focusing on bioprocess engineering, he completed his PhD in the field of industrial protein crystallisation at the Technical University of Denmark and the University of Delaware, USA, which he finished in 2006.

He subsequently completed his training in patent law at a renowned patent and law firm in Bremen, at the Patent Litigation Chamber of the Mannheim Regional Court, as well as at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office and the Federal Patent Court, alongside a general law course in “Law for Patent Attorneys” at the Open University of Hagen. In 2009, he joined a patent law firm in Wiesbaden, becoming a partner in 2013. He also undertook a Master’s degree (LL.M.) at the Fernuniversität Hagen in “European Intellectual Property Law”, which he completed in the same year. In 2016, he joined a patent law firm in south-west Germany, becoming a partner in 2020.

Since the beginning of 2022, Dr FABER has been running the firm together with patent attorney Dr BAYER under the name WALTHER PATENT.
