Dr Alexander BAYER studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University, specialising in manufacturing technology, whilst undertaking several years of student work at the Machine Tool Laboratory of RWTH Aachen University and at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in Aachen. His degree thesis focused on the use of lasers in the printing industry. Dr BAYER subsequently obtained his doctorate during a five-year research position at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in the field of microsystems technology.
Dr BAYER has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2004, having completed his training as a patent attorney at an internationally active patent law firm in Düsseldorf. Dr BAYER passed the patent attorney examination in 2007 and practised as a patent attorney until mid-2011 at an internationally active firm in the Ruhr region and until mid-2016 at a firm in Düsseldorf. In mid-2016, Dr BAYER joined the firm Walther ∙ Walther ∙ Hinz GbR as a partner; the firm was subsequently renamed Patentanwaltskanzlei Walther ∙ Hinz ∙ Bayer PartGmbB.
Since the beginning of 2022, Dr BAYER has been running the firm together with patent attorney Dr FABER under the name WALTHER PATENT.
